Biography

Juan was born about 1654 to Juan de Archuleta II and María Luján.[1] Sometime before 1680 he married Isabel Gonzáles.[1][2] When the Pueblo Indians began their rebellion, Juan and Isabel made it safely to southern New Mexico.[3] Since Juan was a soldier stationed at the Presidio,[4] they most likely lived in El Paso del Norte during the 12 year exile.

In 1693, when they returned to New Mexico, they had five children, adding Luis after the return.[2]

  1. Juan Andrés (abt.1683-
  2. Diego (1691-
  3. María
  4. María Antonia
  5. Juana
  6. Luís (abt.1699-)

Juan acquired a land grant in Santa Fe and in San Juan Pueblo, and purchased some land in Santa Cruz.[1] He was dead by 1703.[1]
